FirstPass is an independent educational website about medications, supplements, nutrition, and anti-doping rules for athletes and active people. It is operated by Trey Flynn. This policy explains what information FirstPass collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information you give us: your email address when you sign up for the free handout or monthly brief, and anything you choose to include if you email us.
Information collected automatically: our website host and email provider may record basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and whether an email was opened or a link clicked. FirstPass does not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.
FirstPass does not ask for, and you should not submit, personal health information such as diagnoses, medications you take, or lab results. Drug Lookup, the Interaction Checker and the Nutrition Tracker run in your browser. FirstPass does not receive or store what you enter. FirstPass is not a healthcare provider and is not a covered entity under HIPAA.
To send the handout and the monthly brief you requested; to decide what topics to cover based on what readers ask (reviewed in aggregate); to keep the site working and secure; and to meet legal obligations. We do not use your information to give individual medical advice.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with service providers that help run FirstPass, such as our email platform (Buttondown) and website host (Cloudflare Pages), under their own privacy and security terms; or when required by law.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We send the monthly brief no more than once a month, plus occasional essential messages about your subscription.
We keep your email address while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we remove it within 30 days, except where our email provider must keep a suppression record so you are not emailed again.
You can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us. Depending on where you live, including California, other U.S. states, and the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws. We will respond to verified requests within the time those laws require, and we will not treat you differently for exercising them.
FirstPass is intended for people 18 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We use reputable service providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
FirstPass links to outside resources such as Global DRO, USADA, DailyMed, MedlinePlus, and PubMed. Their privacy practices are their own, so review their policies when you visit them.
